Spencer Hospital is a rural hospitallocated in northwest Iowa employing over 500 employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers if accepted are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Our laboratory professionals perform a variety of testing services from basic wellness and pre-employment screenings to complex orders from physicians specializing in oncology pathology and other medical disciplines.
Spencer Hospitals laboratory is certified under CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) and also participates in the American Association of Blood Banks quality certification program.
Schedule:
- Fri-Sat-Sun Weekend Package - NIGHTS - 5:45p-6a
- Weekend Package Incentive Pay Included! Choose with or without benefits: With benefits: Pay is 10% higher than base pay or without benefits: Pay is 33% higher than base pay
- 42 out of 52 weekends; extra weekend pay after 42 weekends
- 10 weekends off per year but may work additional during the week and weekends if there is a need
- Work 72 hours a pay period and be paid 80 hours a pay period 208 hours per year at your hourly rate
- No call
- The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of laboratory tests some routine and some complex of body fluids and other substances to provide data in the diagnosis or treatment of diseases
- Requires use of professional judgment
- Must have excellent communication skills caring attitude and be a team player
Requirements:
- A Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a related science including 12 months training or experience or both in high complexity testing
- Possess an Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution and have at least two years training or experience or both in high complexity testing
- Certified as a Medical Technologist by a nationally recognized certifying agency showing competence as a medical laboratory technologist
- Current ASCP certification or equivalent preferred
