About the Job:

This is an exciting opportunity for a CFD Engineer to join the Sustainability & Building Physics team in Dublin working exclusively on Simstudio CFD projects.

Simstudio is a specialist CFD company based in Zoetermeer the Netherlands focusing on airflow heat transfer and smoke control studies for data centres wind engineering and fire safety. As part of the Ethos group Simstudio collaborates closely with the Sustainability team in Dublin on international projects across Europe and the Middle East.

In this role you will be an integral member of both teams embedded in the Dublin office while working daily with the Simstudio CFD team in the Netherlands. Together you will deliver advanced CFD simulations that inform the design and optimisation of high-performance sustainable environments.

The position is hybrid based in Ireland with attendance at our Dublin office as determined by project needs.

About you:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 13 years of relevant experience in CFD analysis within building physics mechanical systems or similar applications (exceptional graduates will also be considered).
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles.
  • Experience with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent/CFX Star-CCM OpenFOAM or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) or 6Sigma/DC Design is an advantage.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Revit and MS Office for supporting workflows.
  • Excellent analytical organisational and communication skills.
  • Analytical thinker with a structured approach and attention to detail.
  • Clear and confident communicator capable of explaining technical results to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in international multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with enthusiasm for innovation and sustainability.
  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to quality.

        Your day-to-day activities:

        • Carry out CFD simulations to assess airflow thermal performance wind conditions smoke movement and environmental comfort.
        • Work on advanced CFD projects for data centres wind engineering and fire safety applications.
        • Translate complex CFD outputs into clear actionable recommendations for clients architects and engineering teams.
        • Collaborate closely with both Ethos and Simstudio engineers to integrate CFD findings into overall design strategies.
        • Prepare detailed technical reports visualisations and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
        • Contribute to the development of modelling methodologies QA/QC procedures and R&D initiatives within the joint CFD team.
