Heavy Equipment Mechanic

The Mechanic is responsible for conducting maintenance and repairs on construction and industrial equipment. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation and optimal performance of the equipment. The Mechanic must possess a strong knowledge of mechanical systems and adhere to safety standards and protocols.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections diagnostics and repairs on construction and industrial equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities to identify and address potential issues before they cause equipment failure.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical electrical and hydraulic system problems.
• Replace faulty parts and components ensuring proper installation and calibration.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities including inspections repairs and parts inventory.

Required Job Skills & Abilities

• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals schematics and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
• Knowledge of hydraulic electrical and mechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Education Knowledge & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or training in mechanical or automotive technology is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic in the construction or industrial sector.
• Knowledge of construction equipment such as excavators bulldozers loaders and cranes.
• Familiarity with diagnostic software and computerized systems is a plus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS

• Work primarily in a maintenance shop or field environment.
• Potential hazards include working around heavy machinery exposure to loud noises and working at heights.
• Physical demands include standing bending lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
• Flexible work schedule may be required including weekends and evenings.
• Travel to job sites may be necessary.
