Job Summary

Manager of Budget and Finance

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager of Budget and Finance to lead our financial operations with integrity strategic vision and a strong commitment to service excellence. Reporting to the Superintendent of Business and Treasurer this role is responsible for overseeing Accounting Budget Payroll and Capital functions while ensuring financial transparency compliance and operational efficiency.

This position is ideal for a collaborative leader who thrives in a complex fast-paced environment and values public education fiscal accountability and strategic financial planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Finance Department staff including payroll and accounting teams.
  • Develop coordinate and oversee the Boards annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements Ministry reports and other government-required financial documentation.
  • Coordinate annual external audits and participate in internal audit activities.
  • Monitor analyze and manage Board-wide cash flow to ensure financial stability and optimal use of funds.
  • Oversee overall boards funding and other grants ensuring proper accounting practices controls and reporting in compliance with Board policies and Ministry regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with schools departments trustees and Ministry representatives.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to support the Boards decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial legislation accounting standards and Board policies.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork equity and service excellence.


Qualifications


  • University degree or diploma in Finance Business Administration Accounting or related field.
  • CharteredProfessional Accounting (CPA) designation in a good standing and/orequivalent Professional designation.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience managing payroll capital assets and budgeting in a school board environment (an asset).
  • Advanced knowledge of financial legislation public sector accounting and ministry reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent planning organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial systems accounting software spreadsheets and HRIS.

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13000 students from Brant Haldimand and Norfolk counties the City of Brantford Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The district has approximately 2100 full and part-time staff committed to supporting Belonging Teaching and Learning and Wellness for all. We currently have 29 elementary schools 3 secondary schools and a multisite Alternative Education school and 3 administrative offices. We are unique in that we belong to three Dioceses: Hamilton London and St. Catharines. We are located within a one-hour radius of Toronto to the east London to the west and Kitchener-Waterloo to the north.
