Job Summary
Job Description
A drivers job description involvestransporting goods or passengers safely and efficiently to designated locations. Key duties include operating a vehicle legally planning efficient routes performing routine vehicle maintenance and inspections and loading/unloading cargo. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining accurate records communicating with dispatch and ensuring the vehicle remains clean.
Key responsibilities
- Transportation:Safely transport passengers goods or equipment to various locations in a timely manner.
- Route planning:Plan and follow the most efficient routes using navigation systems and knowledge of the area while accounting for traffic and road conditions.
- Vehicle maintenance:Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections perform basic maintenance like checking fluid levels and tire pressure and arrange for repairs when necessary.
- Safety and compliance:Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations operate the vehicle defensively and ensure the safety of passengers and cargo.
- Record keeping:Maintain accurate logs of mileage deliveries fuel consumption and any vehicle issues or incidents.
- Loading and unloading:Safely load and unload cargo or assist passengers when required.
- Communication:Communicate effectively with passengers dispatchers and management regarding route updates delays or issues.
- Vehicle upkeep:Keep the vehicle clean and presentable both inside and out.
- A valid drivers license and a clean driving record are essential.
- Strong navigational skills and the ability to use GPS technology.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- The ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules.
- Good communication skills and a professional and friendly demeanor.
