Product Development Manager Online Shopping

About the Role:

Our eCommerce websites and apps have grown steadily over the past 10 years to become one of the largest online retail platforms in the UK. We currently sell to 70 international markets offering our 8 million active customers a personalised shopping experience and the ability to purchase from a wide range of products using multiple delivery methods and payment types.

This pivotal role takes full strategic ownership of a core product directly impacting millions of customers. You will manage a dedicated development team to deliver high-impact applications ensuring our customers can shop smoothly on Next in the UK and across the world.

This role demands strong project management and leadership to navigate stakeholder interests and drive innovation on a global scale. Your core responsibilities and measures of success will include:

• Overseeing all stages of project delivery managing risks issues and decisions.
• Establishing and validating project scope aligned with strategic business drivers.
• Ensuring projects (up to c5m) are delivered on time on budget and aligned with priorities.
• Managing the product development lifecycle using Agile Delivery Methods (ADM).
• Leading coaching and developing a team of Developers to deliver the highest standards.
• Managing team performance setting clear objectives and fostering collaboration.
• Communicating project status clearly to all stakeholders.
• Partnering with cross-functional teams (IT Marketing E-commerce) to integrate workflows.
• Ensuring full compliance with policies governance and NEXT standards.
• Actively managing all project risks and driving continuous improvement in processes.

About you:

You will have:

• Proven experience managing complex projects and portfolios.
• Strong senior stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership coaching and development.
• Background in a fast-paced eCommerce marketing or retail technology environment.
• Proficiency with ALM tools (e.g. Jira Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project delivery models.
• (Desirable) Experience with cloud products (Azure) or leveraging AI in project execution.
