Job Description

This position is part of a collaborative team and serves as partner and coach to assigned departments. The role ensures compliance with legal requirements consults with departments about talent management (talent acquisition employee development and performance management) provides guidance on employee relations matters and facilitates HR training sessions. The ideal candidate will be adaptable able to thrive in a team-oriented work environment and possess coaching analytical and communication skills. Proficiency in HR information systems data analytics problem-solving attention to detail task prioritization and time management are essential.

Essential Duties
  • Partner with department leaders to assess business needs and develop HR strategies that align with organizational goals and comply with HR policies

  • Provide coaching and guidance to address performance management resolve conflicts and navigate disputes

  • Provide support through process improvements and structural and operational changes

  • Ensure compliance with all legal regulatory and county policy requirements

  • Recommend disciplinary actions for employee misconduct ensuring adherence to county policies

  • Perform talent management functions including talent acquisition drug testing facilitation salary analyses and HRIS data management

  • Process a high volume of personnel actions

  • Leave management

  • Represent Gwinnett County at Department of Labor hearings

Public Speaking Duties
  • Conduct and facilitate supervisory and employee training about HR topics

  • Represent HR as speaker at internal and external meetings

Human Resources Specialist
The grade for this position is C41(1).
Salary Range: $58649 - $68180. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree in human resources business administration finance or a closely related field such as organizational leadership and management; AND
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the stated specialty areas: talent management employee relations HR compliance; OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

Human Resources Associate III
The grade for this position is C42(1).
Salary Range: $63780 - $74145. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in human resources business administration finance or a closely related field such as organizational leadership and management; AND
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the stated specialty areas: talent management employee relations HR compliance; OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above Minimum Qualifications
  • Five years of experience serving in a progressive HR role within an HR Department.

  • Three years of experience interpreting and administering HR policies and providing guidance on employee relations matters.

  • Proficiency using HRIS platforms preferably Oracle.

  • Data analytics.

  • SHRM-CP PHR SPHR or a similar HR Certification.
