Overview
SIG Sports is focused on geo-political and sports trading and analytics. Due to our continued growth we are looking for someone with an understanding and interest in sports analytics to join our Quantitative Research team. Quantitative Researchers work to better understand markets andto identify develop and improve trading strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an early-stage initiative and be an influencer to shape new product in rapidly-evolving markets.
What youll be part of:
This role sits at the intersection of trading research and development offering exposure to each. You will have access to the most comprehensive sports statistics and trading data. Youll use your mathematical and analytical skills to design test and refine data-driven models and strategies. This position will likely require intermittent international travel.
Tasks will include:
- Understanding refining and maintaining our current exchange-trading strategies
- Collaborate with traders quants and developers to improve our mathematical models and software
- Trading sports events occasionally to enhance understanding of market dynamics
- Build and calibrate probabilistic models for sports outcomes.
- Analysing past trades and historical data in a constant search for improvement
- Designing testing and evaluating new model ideas through simulation and backtesting frameworks
- Developing tools useful for trading
- Presenting findings and recommendations to traders and stakeholders in a clear and data-driven manner
What were looking for
- A Bachelors degree (or higher) with research experience in a numerate or technical discipline such as Mathematics Stats Computer Science Physics etc.
- Exceptional quantitative statistical and probabilistic reasoning skills.
- Very strong attention to detail.
- Interest in sports data/analytics with an understanding of some subset of--NFL NBA MLB NHL Soccer or Tennis
- Knowledge of data mining and modelling
- Strong programming ability (Python C# or both); experience with libraries such as Pandas and NumPy a plus.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and English communication skills
- Attentiveness and ability to react to changing priorities while managing multiple tasks is essential
- Knowledge of the betting or prediction markets is a plus
