Profile Description

Were seeking someone to join our team as (Vice President) Sybase Database Admin to provide DB expertise and work on our Database Tooling software that automates the management of our large-scale database plant. This is an opportunity to play a key role in developing new automation while also maintaining existing software and demonstrating your DBA expertise.

EnterpriseTechnology

Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for Morgan Stanley supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of Morgan Stanleys software development lifecycle enabling productive coding functional and integration testing application releases and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3000 production applications. ETS also delivers all workplace technologies (desktop mobile voice video productivity intranet/internet) in integrated configurations that boost the personal productivity of employees. Application and end user functions are delivered on a scalable secure and reliable infrastructure composed of seamlessly integrated datacenter network compute cloud storage and database functions.

Enterprise Computing (EC)

Enterprise Computingis a department ofCore Infrastructurethat provides a collection of products and services that make up the Morgan Stanley core compute infrastructure hosting platforms and supporting application services. Solutions are delivered across the infrastructure stack from foundational hardware platforms storage server operating systems and virtualization up through the hosting of common web database middleware and reporting services.

This is Vice President position that maintains the stability and reliability of the organizations infrastructure systems ensuring optimal performance and availability to support business operations.

What youll do in the role:

• Contribute as a member of a squad developing automation solutions
• Work together with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure that requirements are being satisfied appropriately
• Contribute to design and architecture of scripts/ applications
• Respond to escalations and issues related to our applications and show appropriate levels of ownership to follow through on enhancements to avoid repeat problems.
• As a DBA you will provide subject matter expertise in all facets of database administration covering some of the Firms most mission critical database systems.
• In depth performance and tuning analysis
• High urgency outage resolution in the production DB plant
• Provide DB consultancy services to AppDev teams
• Provide BAU weekday and weekend support

What youll bring to the role:

• At least 6 years relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
• Experience with database administration
• Experience working in Unix-like environment and scripting in Python Perl bash.
• Strong focus on clean code and automated testing.
