Job Summary

The University of Iowa Health Care Information Systems has a great opportunity to join our team as a Senior IT Support Consultant! In this role you will provide advanced support configuration and installation of IT hardware for daily operations in various sizes IT projects that are on as well as off campus including our UI Community Connect sites. You will participate in project administration inventory management and schedule management. You will communicate with direct management is essential and crucial to the success of the work balancing. All this work having a strong focus on but not limited to our diverse printing environment patient care devices and other Clinical systems.

This position is eligible forhybridwork within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with theremote work program and related policiesandemployee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes printer and other systems device needs in the clinical critical care research and departmental environments and determines appropriate hardware to satisfy those needs.
  • Plans installs and documents complex clinical systems device hardware and printer configurations.
  • Develops the understanding of institutional knowledge to reflect customer needs within solution planning and implementation.
  • Perform proactive maintenance of equipment at UIHC UI Community Connect and other locations on and off campus.
  • Coordinate system upgrade testing at UIHC and UI Community Connect locations.
  • Perform advanced analysis and problem resolution with a wide range of hardware and software including connectivity security and policy compliance affecting users across multiple geographical locations.
  • Collaborate define document share and continually improve solutions and processes with peer technicians.
  • Maintain hardware standards for clinical systems devices and printer equipment.
  • Maintain standard policies for hardware requests.
  • Communicates the value of adhering to established best practices regarding hardware software peripherals and supported IT services to all levels of personnel.
  • Provides both verbal and documented training to customers and peer technicians.
  • Creates and continually improves implementation and operational support documentation for provided services used to train customers and peer technicians.
  • Develops documentation for complex software/hardware installation processes.
  • Develops documents and implements procedures for supported hardware.
  • Maintains accurate inventory management records.
  • Accurately documents work in the ticket tracking system.
  • Assist with the implementation of approved projects providing project support and services.
  • May manage small projects or one or more phases of larger IT projects that are on as well as off campus including our UI Community Connect sites.
  • Maintains project documentation for tracking all phases of a project.
  • May flex schedule during projects or supporting go lives.
  • Participates with management regarding the support of current and future state operations which may include interviewing and evaluating candidates when vacancies in unit staff occur as required.
  • Facilitates communication between team members teams divisions departments and customers.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation as required to resolve routine and/or complex problems as they arise.

  • Pay Grade: $56304.00 to commensurate Paygrade 5A

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science MIS IT-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience (typically 3-5 years) supporting workstations running Windows 10 and MS Office 2016/365
  • Experience running small to large IT related projects in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience working with desktop hardware and software in an enterprise IT environment.
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Experience working in an Enterprise IT Service Center
  • Ability to move and install clinical systems device/computer/printer.
  • A valid drivers license and must meet the University of Iowa Fleet Services Program rules and regulations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft OneNote
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records and interfaced systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Comfortable working with various powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Experience with wireless networking and security.
  • Experience providing IT support in a health care or health industry environment.
  • Experience with ITIL frameworks and/or LEAN principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills
