Position Description

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for a probationary tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidates will have or be nearing completion of a PhD in Mathematics Statistics or a related field. Preference will be given to those who are able to support the data science and actuarial science programming. The preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and provide evidence of high-quality research.

About the Department

The Department has 11 tenured/tenure-track research active members across a variety of areas committed to the scholarship of teaching and outreach to the community. The Department prides itself on its engagement with students and collegiality within the University.
