WBIR the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Knoxville Tennessee is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Journalist to expand our tradition of Straight from the Heart storytelling into Nashville.

This isnt a typical MMJ job. Youll own our Nashville-based coverage shaping how East Tennessee connects with the states capital and stories with statewide impact.

Were looking for a journalist who can find and tell powerful people-centered stories with statewide appeal. Youll have the creative freedom to pursue enterprise and investigative work while delivering smart visual daily content. Youll collaborate remotely with our Knoxville newsroom but operate with the independence of a trusted bureau chief.

Responsibilities:

  • Shoot write edit and produce stories for TV digital and streaming platforms
  • Deliver authoritative compelling live shots during developing or breaking news
  • Generate enterprise and accountability stories that resonate beyond the daily grind
  • Cultivate sources who keep you informed about key events ideas and communities
  • Use creative production tools graphics user-generated content and new digital formats to elevate storytelling
  • Collaborate virtually with producers and managers who understand what solo really means and protect time for enterprise

Requirements:

  • 5 years of professional reporting experience (exceptions for exceptional talent)
  • Proven news judgment strong communication and ethical decision-making skills
  • Exceptional writing and visual storytelling ability
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Proven social and digital content creation ability
  • Knowledge of the Nashville market a plus
