Job Summary:

This role is a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and under direction of the Director and Deputy Director this position is responsible for the overall strategic planning implementation and management of all information technology (IT) systems networks applications and initiatives. This role is a key strategic partner to the the agency and will oversee digital transformation efforts enhance operation efficiency ensure secure and reliable technology by performing security and senior network and server administration tasks. The CIO will optimize the infrastructure to support efficient and effective operations including website point of sales reservation system and other applications and databases across all state park locations and departments. This position will lead a team of IT professionals manage vendor relationships and oversee the IT budget.

This role requires occasional travel and overnight stays to various state park location and will support critical issues outside of business hours.

Job Duties:

Duties include:
- Oversees the development implementation management and evaluation of Department wide information technology and related activities in support of business operations to include information technology systems security and other activities as they relate to strategic plans and operational objectives. Establishes performance metrics to measure and monitor compliance. Develops plans and delivers results in a fast-changing environment.

- Organizes and leads day to day IT operations including directing subordinate staff in the daily management of IT services to the Department. This includes hiring coaching providing leadership and performance management.

- Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team regarding the Departments IT strategies and presents information to the Parks Board as needed. Sets goals and objectives to address IT needs disseminates information throughout the agency resolves cross-divisional issues or challenges and responds to public inquiries and complaints. Defines immediate and long term goals and priorities to ensure alignment with the organization.

- Serves as the agencys primary IT contact. Coordinates with other state agencies and participates in State CIO Council and data governance meetings. Meets with staff to discuss policy operational issues and options including assigning and reviewing/approving IT work products and projects. Leads and/or participates in cross-division teams (including park staff and leadership attorneys customers vendors state officials and other stakeholders) to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Tracks progress on multiple projects and ensures objectives are accomplished in accordance with predetermined schedules and within budgets.

- Directs and manages the information technology department budget effectively and within statutory requirements. Reports overall department level budget to the executive team manages monitors and tracks project-related costs and other relevant activities performed by the department related to IT.

Methods to organize and present complex technological information to technical and non-technical staff.
The application of management tools to determine value and cost benefit analysis for projects systems and proposed improvements.
Current and state of the art system development and programming methodologies.
Advanced knowledge of management information systems concepts capabilities and possible application within the Departments network and systems.
State and Federal statutes regulations and policies pertaining to technology services.
State processes governing strategic and operations planning management budget and procurement.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science management Information Systems Business Administration or other related information technology related field with 10 years of related experience and 3 or more years of management experience in an IT or business operations environment.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must obtain possess and / or maintain a current Arizona Drivers license appropriate to assignment.
