Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience and proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook Teams).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education experience and/or certifications may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Florida certification in the area of responsibility for academic courses.
  • Teaching experience in an adult education learning environment.
  • Bilingual/biliterate in a minimum of one target language such as Spanish French Creole Portuguese or other language.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply federal state and local statutes laws regulations rules policies procedures and current research-based best practices governing the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Public Records Sunshine Law FERPA and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy public information and records retention.
  • Knowledge of WDIS reporting and FLDOE accountability systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with adult learners.
  • Ability to provide individualized support and adapt instruction based on student needs.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes nights.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with FLDOE curriculum frameworks for ABE GED or ESOL.
  • Guide students in goal setting career planning and transitions to postsecondary education training or employment.
  • Maintain accurate student records including attendance progress assessments and data required for the Workforce Development Information System (WDIS).
  • Integrate employability skills industry standards and real-world applications into instruction.
  • Provide for the safety and general welfare of the students.
  • Communicate regularly with students staff and administrators regarding student progress and instructional needs
  • Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to district state and federal education regulations and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
