  • Part-time (0.6 FTE) permanent opportunity - the 3 days are over Friday Saturday and a half day Sunday.

Role Overview:

  • To encourage and support the recovery process of people with a mental illness.
  • To use personal lived experience of mental health recovery to connect with consumers and provide support in a recovery-oriented person-centred and strengths-based way.

  • Provide support to a Day Program that will consist primarily of group work focusing on psychoeducational skillsdevelopment recovery healthy lifestyles and community connectedness.
  • Delivering mental health programs in a voluntary inpatient unit setting
  • Provide support that is sensitive client focused community oriented and planned.
  • Workdays will be Thursdays Fridays and a half day Sunday

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Cert IV in Peer Work or Community services related discipline (ideally a completed degree or Diploma)
  • Experience and skills in working with people experiencing mental illness
  • Experience in facilitating group programs
  • Possess awareness of the needs expectations and issues pertaining to clients with mental illness
  • Demonstrate effective listening communication skills empathy; and the capacity to relate with others with dignity and respect.
  • Have a strong client focused and recovery-based philosophy
  • Ability to work in partnership with clients family/ carers and other social and community networks
  • Ability to implement and facilitate planned activities resulting in greater community access and support
  • Good computer skills
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
  • Current Drivers License
