This position can be home-based.

Responsibilities
This position will work in the Office of Science Medicine and Health (OSMH) to provide technical and scientific input and support for AHA sponsorship-related grant activities.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide consultation guidance and approval review on science/clinical aspects to grant-related program initiatives including input on public and professional programs patient and lay publications corporate relations marketing materials and other public or professional-facing activities with health and science implications
- Provide staff support to grant-related science advisory bodies and serve as liaison to AHA Councils and Science Committees.
- Work with the grant-related program team to develop and review content for professional public and community-facing products and ensure content is current and accurate.
- Provide leadership and guidance to effectively translate science specific to the sponsorship or grant to teams producing online and face-to-face educational programs practice resources and patient educational tools.
- Serve as grant-related science/clinical representative/spokesperson including engaging in science-science meetings with corporate relations and sponsors as needed.
- Maintain understanding of and adherence to the Office of Science Medicine and Healths processes and policies to successfully execute on role.
- Maintain current cardiovascular disease and stroke knowledge on the state of the science and practice in these fields to ensure that the content reviewed is current accurate and aligned with AHA science.
- Research identify and establish opportunities to enhance the AHA Office of Science Medicine and Health knowledge base through individual or assigned involvement in scientific meetings review of literature consultation with health care professionals monitoring of legislation and other public action.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in health or related field with clinical and educational experience in cardiovascular diabetes endocrinology primary care obesity science or related fields or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical or research experience in cardiovascular diabetes endocrinology primary care obesity science or related fields.
- Superior writing & communication skills.
- Publication history in peer-reviewed journals preferred.
- Ability to understand translate and summarize scientific literature to professional and lay audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with professional volunteers staff and the public as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
- Proficient with standard office software packages including basic knowledge of PC-based database applications and web browsers.
- Must be able to travel overnight approximately. 25% of the time.
Preferred Skills
- Five (5) years of clinical or research experience in cardiovascular diabetes endocrinology primary care obesity science or related fields.
- Masters degree in health or related field with clinical and educational experience in cardiovascular diabetes endocrinology primary care obesity science or related fields or equivalent work experience.
- Superior writing & communication skills.
- Knowledge of voluntary health organizations or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience in volunteer management.
