Were seeking a Fiber Engineer with hands-on experience in inside plant fiber design routing and allocation to join a regional engineering team supporting both customer-funded and company-funded projects. This individual will take ownership of fiber design from concept through completion including route creation mapping and collaboration with construction and provisioning teams to ensure seamless network delivery.Key Responsibilities- Participate in project Kick-Off Meetings to scope new backbone lateral and riser fiber requirements.
- Design backbone and lateral fiber routes creating detailed AZ fiber maps.
- Provide accurate fiber assignments to Construction teams and assist with build coordination to the last demarcation panel.
- Generate requisitions and purchase orders for vendor services and materials.
- Manage change notifications and ensure all field activities follow company standards and safety guidelines.
- Deliver final DLRs and test results to Operations/Provisioning for closeout.
- Oversee project documentation and system closeouts including invoice review and approval.
- Collaborate closely with Fiber Construction Managers and field personnel to maintain schedule and quality control.
- Plan and execute network augments for high-utilization routes based on capacity reports.
- Support emergency response efforts participating in the on-call rotation for outage restoration and troubleshooting.
- Partner with the NOC and Field Ops to mobilize repair crews and update records accurately after resolution.
Experience & Requirements- Minimum 1 year in fiber engineering or construction management with a strong preference for inside plant design/build experience.
- GIS experience (1 years) strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) construction (aerial & underground) a plus.
- Familiarity with NESC NEC and OSHA standards preferred.
- High School Diploma required; 2-year technical degree or BS/BA (Civil Construction or Electrical Engineering) preferred.
- Valid drivers license required.
What Will Catch Our Eye- Direct experience designing or maintaining inside plant fiber infrastructure (central offices headends data centers or large MDU environments).
- AutoCAD or 3GIS proficiency for creating and validating fiber routes.
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functionally with construction provisioning and operations teams.
- Experience closing out projects with as-builts DLRs and test documentation.
- A background that blends technical precision and project ownership not just design but seeing the project through completion.
