NOTICE OF VACANCY

Classification: Library Technician

Unlimited Full Time/Part Time

Monday Friday: 9:30 AM 6:00 PM onsite

Salary Range: Hourly from $20.76 to $28.44; Annually from $43347 to $59383

*Salary placement is dependent on education and experience

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position exists to support the operation of the librarys circulation and serials services including staffing the circulation desk and circulating library materials stacks maintenance and projects and receiving and processing serials.

This position will actively advance the colleges strategic goals including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture through individual and departmental efforts. The Normandale Community College library supports every student in the pursuit of their education by providing dynamic services relevant collections and flexible learning spaces that foster an inclusive environment intellectual discovery and achievement.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL: These qualifications are required to move forward; as such (ensure your application contains descriptions of your education and work experience sufficient to demonstrate competency in each of the following):

  • Working knowledge of library classification system(s) and standard library reference tools sufficient to assist patrons in locating materials and conducting research.

  • Experience using an integrated library system and associated databases (e.g. Alma and/or OCLC).

  • Operate personal computers and use various software web-based applications and other office equipment to locate catalog information create documents complete forms and prepare reports.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to address the informational needs of clients of multifaceted educational levels and backgrounds; to train direct and evaluate work of student workers; and to assist the library staff in maintaining the library collection in accordance with library policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience working in an academic library preferably with a customer service focus.

  • Two (2) years of college coursework or a certificate in library information technology information media or an equivalent program.

  • Experience serving diverse or underserved populations.

  • Experience giving work direction to others.

  • Strong computer and technology skills e.g. proficiency in MS Word Excel Outlook ability to troubleshoot basic technology hardware and software.
