Job Summary
Looking for a role where your infrastructure project development experience can be used to reduce poverty and to support economic and sustainable development
Does joining a team who collectively identify evaluate and develop critical infrastructure projects in developing countries from feasibility to implementation sound like your next calling
Swedfund are looking for an experienced project manager with exposure to emerging markets and developing infrastructure projects within the energy sector.
Aside from taking on responsibilities for ensuring smooth project progression alongside your colleagues and project owner partners you will also be tasked with the following
- Supporting the project owner to take projects through the project development stages and to help develop terms of reference for specific project development studies such as feasibility studies environmental and social impact assessments.
- Ensuring productive and strong key stakeholder relationships with various public and private agencies
- Enhancing the local project owners capacity to procure and develop sustainable solutions aligned with Swedlunds guidelines
- Ensure successful project implementation via coordinating the engagement and involvement of various technical advisors and project owners
- Manage complex dialogues regarding projects with both local and foreign partners
- Develop and improve internal project tools and systems
The position is located in the office in Stockholm; however the position involves regular international travel comprising around about 4-6 trips per year of 5 days duration per trip.
Your profile
Relevant candidates will have more than 5 years of relevant work experience which should include experience from energy sector infrastructure project development and management from role(s) in utility companies international industrial companies or technical consulting roles This alongside interest and preferably experience in international development will ensure success in the role. Exposure to infrastructure project financing is preferable.
Qualifications
Whats needed
- Academic degree in Economics Engineering or Social sciences.
- At least 510 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in energy sector infrastructure project development and project management
- International experience
- Experience in project development and financing within infrastructure projects preferably in projects that have been run in a Team Sweden context
- Professional levels of English
Whats preferred
- Experience with sustainability issues and how these can be addressed within the framework of feasibility studies
- Experience from developing countries
- Experience of collaborating with development banks and other financiers
- Experience and understanding of publicly funded activities

Swedfund established in 1979is a state-owned company managed by the Swedish Ministry of Finance. Swedfund is Swedens development finance institution with the mission of fighting poverty through sustainable investments in developing countries. Through their work they contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement. They share the same goal as Swedish development cooperation - a world without poverty - but they use different tools.
Swedfund implements sustainable investments in the private sector and work on technical feasibility studies and capacity building in relation to public actors. The operations are financed by reflows from the portfolio and through capital injections from the development cooperation budget for which the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible.
Swedfunds business model is centred on generating results within three pillars: impact on society sustainability and financial viability.
Swedfunds Project Accelerator contributes to the development financing and long-term sustainability of critical projects in our partner countries. The Project Accelerator works with public actors in developing countries to enable and accelerate the development of sustainable and bankable projects. The collaboration often extends over the entire project development process and includes different support and efforts depending on the project. Part of the offer means that Swedfund can finance feasibility studies and other forms of efforts that are necessary to enable decision-making and financing.
