_{Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse or medical professional the Patient Care Associate provides clinical and clerical support in a Labor & Delivery unit. This role involves assisting in basic patient care monitoring vital signs supporting examinations and procedures and maintaining accurate records-all to ensure efficient compassionate care delivery.}

_{Key Responsibilities:}

_{Measure and record vital signs height weight and obtain laboratory specimens.}
_{Instruct patients on specimen collection and conduct basic screenings (e.g. dipstick hemoccult).}
_{Prepare specimens for lab pick-up and retrieve results.}
_{Perform basic vision hearing and urinalysis testing.}
_{Administer emergency first aid including basic life support.}
_{Provide basic wound care bandaging and ear irrigation.}
_{Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during procedures.}
_{Educate patients on preparation for medical tests and procedures.}
_{Conduct patient intake interviews to collect medical history and demographic data.}
_{Maintain and update patient charts forms and other documentation.}
_{Report patient observations to the healthcare team for clinical assessment.}
_{Answer routine patient inquiries and assist with appointment scheduling.}
_{Transport and escort patients within the facility as needed.}
_{Monitor inventory and maintain supplies in the unit.}
_{Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture or fingerstick; perform EKGs.}
_{Coordinate with internal departments for scheduling and data entry in hospital systems.}
_{Participate in patient education and promote safe healthy living practices.}
_{Support new employee orientation and foster a team-based care environment.}

_{Qualifications:}

_{High School Diploma or equivalent Required}
_{AHA BLS Certification Required}
_{Completion of a NYS Department of Health-approved Phlebotomy training program Required}
_{Completion of a healthcare-based EKG training program Required}
_{Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery Required}
