2-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
- This is a 2-month contract role with a local authority focused on ensuring the efficient and accurate validation of planning applications. The position supports the planning team through effective administration communication and customer service ensuring compliance with national and local requirements.
Responsibilities
- Process planning applications and perform all associated administrative duties.
- Check planning applications for validity against national and local validation criteria.
- Prepare and upload application documentation to the Document Management System.
- Draft and issue statutory notification letters to relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise and negotiate with applicants agents members of the public Council members and internal departments.
- Notify applicants/agents of invalid applications and provide clear reasons and guidance for rectification.
- Respond to inbound enquiries and provide accurate advice to customers regarding the planning process.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely allocation and prioritization of tasks to meet deadlines.
Experience
- Previous experience in a planning department or similar administrative role is desirable.
- Experience dealing with the public and external stakeholders in a professional capacity.
- Familiarity with planning terminology and the planning application process is advantageous.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse workload and meet tight deadlines.
Qualification
- Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
- Further education or training in planning administration or customer service is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 36 hours per week
- The role closes on 10th November 2025 apply ASAP.
