Job Summary
POSITION:NDT Level II Technician
SHIFT:Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (OT as needed Friday/Saturday)
PAY RATE: $33 - $36 an hour (Depending on Experience)
LOCATION: Fargo ND
Responsible for conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) on structural steel components to ensure that the physical properties meet product specifications. Follow the TrueNorth Steel procedures in accordance with AWS D1.1 D1.8 and D1.5 Inspect and calibrate test equipment and prepare all related reports.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Set up equipment and conduct tests on structural steel components following procedures established for specified tests performed.
- Apply agents such as cleaners penetrants and developers and couplet to parts.
- Conduct visual penetrant ultrasonic and magnetic particle tests on metal parts to determine if parts meet nondestructive specifications.
- Mark tested parts to indicate conforming and defective areas.
- Interpret and evaluate test results against designated standards utilizing knowledge of metals and testing experience in accordance with applicable codes standards specifications or procedures.
- Prepare reports outlining findings and conclusions.
- Initiates accept/reject decisions and know when to call more qualified individuals for marginal evaluations.
- Quality Control Inspection.
- Ability to travel to other TrueNorth Steel sites when needed.
- Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition.
- Prompt and dependable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND QUALITIES
- Certified to Level II qualifications to perform Ultrasonic (UT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) test methods in accordance with AWS D1.1 D1.8 and D1.5.
- Have mechanical aptitude.
- Ability follow directions.
- Attention to details.
- Exceptional safety and quality work awareness
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma GED or equivalent.
- Post-secondary education in non-destructive testing preferred.
- 2 years non-destructive testing experience preferred.
