Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Medical Imaging.

Successful applicants will be expected to perform clinical duties including routine reporting of plain films performance of fluoroscopic examinations supervision of sonographic computed tomography as well as angiography and interventional procedures. MRI reporting will be available to those participating in the FRANZCR accreditation program. Staff Specialists will also be required to participate in a roster to provide a medical imaging service to the Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital. This service will be supplemented by Teleradiology.

Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months may be considered. If successful the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally complete.

The number of sessions will be 1.0 FTE. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

  1. Possess or be eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  2. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and/or RACP and/or RACS and Registered with CCINR (ANZSNR NSA and ANZAN) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award and Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
  3. Sound clinical knowledge in Radiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
  6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
  7. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Radiology demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
  8. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic applied or clinical research as required within the Department.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
