The P242 Program exists to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers with finding long term meaningful employment opportunities. Our mission is to prepare jobseekers for the workforce whilst building relationships with employers that strengthen their workplace diversity and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment participation.
About the Position:
The P242 Employment Mentor is responsible for working with program participants to give them the skills and knowledge needed to find long-term employment. This is done through initiatives such as weekly Fit4work sessions connecting them with suitable employers and providing general support/mentorship throughout the job seeking process. The P242 Employment mentor must be able to provide a culturally safe environment for all participants and understand the barriers to employment that may be faced by the program participants.
This is a full-time position on a fixed term basis until December 2026.
Skills And ExperiencesAbout You:
To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following experience and attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in providing mentoring support and assistance to job seekers.
- Coordinate weekly Fit4work sessions to engage program participants and teach them the skills required to obtain and succeed in employment.
- Ability to navigate databases or CRM systems to fulfil reporting requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build rapport with employers community organisations and support services.
- Develop and maintain purposeful empowering and supportive relationships with participants throughout the program.
- Providing a culturally safe environment for all participants.
- Have knowledge and understanding of barriers to employment and implement measures to overcome the barriers.
- Ability to work within a small team and independently.
- High level of communication skills both verbal and written.
Essential Requirements:
- Police clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Certificate IV in Employment Services Career Development or similar field or equivalent experience.
- Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
- C Class Drivers Licence
- You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job
