About Our Opportunity


Our Mandate at Seniors and Long-Term Care includes to renovate and build 5700 new single-bed rooms development of a Long-term Care Infrastructure Renewal Plan and supporting aging infrastructure. The Infrastructure Division is looking for an Infrastructure Intern to contribute to the planning and monitoring of LTC facility builds and maintenance. Reporting to the Infrastructure Project Manager this position will be responsible for supporting the core deliverables that guide the projects within the Program. The Infrastructure Intern will be required to advance the goals of the department through tracking of project and program level data and identifying and executing improvements based on this evidence.

Primary Accountabilities


As the Infrastructure Intern you provide technical and administrative support to the SLTC Infrastructure division and have a direct impact on the management of LTC rebuild project records and existing building maintenance.

We count on your strong attention to detail and organization skills for the accurate and timely preparation of informal reports and recommendations in response to project document submissions and inquiries from department staff other government departments the public service providers and project teams. You will be responsible to:

  • Participate in project initiatives as part of the team and complete tasks as assigned by the manager or supervisor to ensure an efficient and effective implementation.
  • Ensure that department records are maintained and the information is relayed to the proper individual for action;
  • Ensure proper documentation and signing authority are received;
  • Protect the confidentiality of Departmental and LTC sector information.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience


Graduation from a post-secondary institution with an applicable field of study and within the last three years is mandatory. Applicable programs include: Engineering Technology Building Systems Technologist Engineering Architecture Planning.

For this position experience and competency in a computerized environment with proficient and accurate keyboarding and data entry skills is required. You will have experience adapting to rapidly evolving technologies and procedures.

As an ideal candidate you have:

  • The ability to communicate effectively with the Department both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite of programs especially Excel.
  • The ability to utilize analyze and synthesize data from database applications.
  • The ability to prioritize the scheduling of work requirements.
  • The ability to work within a team or individually as required with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to carry out policies and procedures of the Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care.


Though not required it is considered an asset if you are familiar with:

  • Knowledge of building construction practices.
  • Knowledge of building plant systems including heating ventilation air conditioning electrical plumbing life safety and controls systems and devices.
  • A strong working knowledge of software such as MS Office AutoCAD and Revit.


We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

Working Conditions


35 hours per week some flexibility in hours of work based on required travel within the province.

Additional Information


There are two TERM opportunities available with an anticipated start date of December 10 2025 and an anticipated end date of December 9 2027. The appointment status (term temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 06

Salary Range: $2004.96- $2084.99Bi-Weekly
