Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (Observation Unit)

Location: Rochester NY 14621
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 4x12-Hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM)
Orientation: 16 Hours (Non-Billable)
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Block Scheduling: Not Available
Local Radius: Must reside 75 miles from the facility

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Observation Unit. This fast-paced unit operates as a bridge between the Emergency Department and inpatient units managing patients requiring additional testing treatment or monitoring prior to discharge or admission.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment possess strong critical thinking skills and be capable of managing a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring observation ongoing evaluation and treatment.

• Collaborate closely with the Emergency Department and dedicated observation physicians to ensure continuity of care.

• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings vital signs and laboratory results.

• Administer medications perform treatments and maintain accurate documentation.

• Respond to rapid changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment.

• Coordinate discharge planning and communicate effectively with patients families and interdisciplinary teams.

• Maintain compliance with all safety infection control and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

• Minimum 18 months of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry experience in an acute care setting preferred.

• First-time travelers are accepted.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (ASN required; BSN preferred).

Licensure & Certifications:

• Active New York RN License (must be in hand at time of submission).

• BLS AHA (Required).

• ACLS AHA (Preferred).

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

• Strong multitasking abilities in a high-volume unit.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

• Experience working directly with Emergency Department teams.
