End Date: One (1) year from start date with possible extension

Salary: Level 8 Step 1 ($50.27 hourly)

Reporting to the Director of Heritage the incumbent supports the World Heritage Site Stewardship Committee in the implementation of the Trondëk-Klondike World Heritage Site (TKWHS). The incumbent works closely with the TKWHS Committee to successfully carry out the goals and objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding Concerning the Joint Management and Protection of the Proposed Trondëk-Klondike World Heritage Site (MOU). The incumbent serves as a point of contact for the public stakeholders and the TKWHS Stewardship Committee and contributes to the successful coordinated management and presentation of the TKWHS.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time permanent part-time temporary full-time temporary part-time term or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma certificate or degree in history geography anthropology Indigenous studies cultural resource management cultural heritage or similar field of study along with demonstrated work experience in cultural heritage project administration/management coordinating multi government/agency initiatives and public engagement consultation or communications; an equivalent combination of knowledge skills and experience may also be considered.
  • Experience in technical writing and drafting press releases reports presentations speeches and briefing notes.
  • Experience with public speaking and/or heritage interpretation.
  • Experience in office administration and/or communications.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical skill in research synthesis.
  • Knowledge of Yukon First Nations and TH heritage traditions and history.
  • Knowledge and experience with planning and development tasks related to UNESCO nominations and submissions.
  • Working knowledge of TH Agreements and associated Implementation Plans.

Assets:

  • Website management and/or design is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the component sites of TKWHS and the concept of Outstanding Universal Value is an asset.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license with clear drivers abstract.
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
