Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM Technician)

Location: Houston TX 77074 (Southwest Houston Harris County)

Department: KHS

Employment Type: Full-Time

$24.00 - $26.00/Hour

The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM technician) role at KhS focuses on delivering on-site in-transit repair solutions for vehicles within the finished vehicle supply chain. This includes servicing vehicles at manufacturing plants transit sites auctions dealerships and distribution centers. As a Tech-OEM you will perform specialized technology-driven repairs to minimize downtime and ensure vehicles meet OEM standards prior to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-transit repairs on new vehicles including:

    • Key programming and replacement

    • Battery replacements

    • Wheel and tire replacements

  • Travel to client sites using a company vehicle and mobile toolkit to provide on-site repairs

  • Stay current with evolving vehicle technologies through ongoing training (e.g. advanced key systems EV components)

  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE

  • Clock in/out using Workday system during assigned shifts

  • Work within assigned business hours; obtain approval for overtime

  • Respond to internal communications within the same business day

  • Use Smartsheet and other systems to document and complete claims per customer requirements

  • Refer to process documents or escalate unclear repairs to management

  • Maintain and update equipment including:

    • Battery testing tools

    • Tire changing tools and jacks

    • Programming software and firmware

    • Company vehicle (including scheduled maintenance)

  • Report any vehicle or equipment issues immediately to management

  • Notify management of any accidents or damage involving company vehicles

  • Maintain open communication with management regarding daily tasks and scheduling

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician

    • Expertise in key programming wheel repair battery systems or light mechanical work preferred

    • OEM certification is a plus

  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and estimating software (e.g. CCC Audatex Mitchell)

  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record

  • Willingness to travel regionally (up to 50%)

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently in variable weather conditions

  • Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills

  • Effective communication and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

  • Work in automotive repair shops refurbishing facilities or outdoor environments

  • Must be clean-shaven and fit-tested to wear a respirator

  • Physical stamina to reach overhead kneel bend squat and lift up to 45 lbs

  • Ability to twist and maneuver into awkward positions

  • Exposure to noise dust and chemicals; must wear protective gear (gloves goggles masks)

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications experience and geographic location.

The starting compensation is expected to be:

$24.00 - $26.00/Hour
