Job Summary

The role of RN in the Operating Room is to assist surgeons during operations and keep the operating room sterile. Maintaining the ability to work under pressure attention to detail while utilizing your strong knowledge of operation procedures will be vital in this role. Here at Insight we strive to treat patients with the compassion and respect they deserve. You will utilize advanced practice skills critical thinking and problem-solving skills to meet the unique need of each patient; ensuring patients are prepared by providing information on the outcomes or potential outcomes of a procedure. This position collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure patient care plans are implemented and monitored for effectiveness. This position requires 8 hour shifts Monday-Friday (7AM- 3:30PM) & 24 hour call schedule that is split amongst OR team members


Job Requirements:

Uses the nursing process critical thinking skills professional judgment and the attributes of Careful Nursing to provide care for an assigned population of patients.

Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare consumers health and/or the situation.

Analyze the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or the issues.

Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation.

Develop a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.

Implement the identified plan.

Evaluate progress towards attainment of outcomes.

Practice ethically.

Attain knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.

Integrate evidence and research findings into practice.

Contribute to quality nursing practice.

Completes at least 8 hours of continuing education in addition to mandatory requirements within the last year that is specific to daily clinical practice.

Communicate effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice.

Demonstrate leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.

Collaborate with healthcare consumers family and others in the conduct of nursing practice.

Evaluate your nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines relevant statutes rules and regulations.

Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe effective and financially responsible.

Practice in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.

Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to all ages of patients serviced on the unit.

This position involves direct patient care and supervision of other health care providers. Use and disclosure of personal health information on a need to know basis may be necessary for purposes of treatment and hospital operations.

Perform all other duties and assignments as requested i.e. special projects and committees.

Experience in spine ortho and robotic surgeries.

Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties while having a good knowledge of inventory and supplies in the operating room



Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited nursing school

Current Registered Nurse License in this state (Illinois)

BLS ACLS and PALS (required)

4-5 years of OR experience (Required)

Ability to work variable hours

Adaptive to learn new techniques and skills in the OR

Experience in spine ortho and robotic surgeries

Have a good knowledge of inventory and supplies in the operating room
