Drives the success of omnichannel merchandising pillars Home Hardlines Entertainment and Apparel through developing and executing business strategies to meet or exceed the financial goals. Influences the merchandising strategy by providing market and competitor intelligence ensuring inventory is forecasted connecting the dots for the right channel strategy pricing decision/choices enable delivery of key metrics store space allocation translate trends and insights to making pricing decisions capital investments new business development and M&A. Leads the cross-functional team; owns P&L accounting reporting analysis forecasting and communication helping drive solutions for business partners ensuring best results for customers and shareholders.

Key Priorities
Contributes to the business units overall strategy and operating plans from a broad business perspective with a focus on the financial elements of the business. Provides insights and the financial vision in the development of long-range and annual plans. Serve as a strategic partner for development of Merchandisings growth initiatives. Supports and drives alignment on the strategic direction of the business while considering the unique aspects of the unit to realize financial and operational objectives. Responsible for merchandise finance activities across Home Hardlines Entertainment and Apparel to ensure that merchandising area receives financial support and align objectives and priorities by working closely with the executive merchandising leadership; recommending actions based on financial analysis to identify emerging business trends issues to be improved and other potential impacts to business operations (for e.g. cost savings growth opportunities); acting as a financial business partner and a thought leader to enable merchandising department make better financial and business decisions and partnering with other areas of WMUS and finance. Provide direction on long range financial planning and analysis by reviewing business strategies; developing strategies with merchandising executive leadership of Home Hardlines Entertainment and Apparel to achieve strategic objectives; reviewing and providing direction on 3-5 year business plans annual business plans and overhead budgets; ensuring ownership by business owners; aggregating planning assumptions; presenting results to finance and merchandising division leaders; overseeing forecasting and operational profit and loss (P&L) financial models by analyzing financial information (for e.g. sales dollars comparable sales dollars percentage increase wage bills etc.); directing month end P&L processing and reporting of merchandising income statements and creating monthly executive P&L packets.
Deliver financial performance by identifying and overseeing implementation of strategic initiatives to drive financial benefits each area; overseeing upfront analysis and evaluation of program feasibility; providing market and competitor intelligence trends and insights partnering closely with the executive team to implement initiatives identify processes and obtain resource requirements (for example staffing capital); actively position portfolio to win individual departments needs as well as omni strategic initiatives; improve profitability of manufacturing programs partner with business stakeholders on $40Bn Apparel goal helping make key store space allocation decisions ensuring financial returns on infrastructure investment requests & overseeing guidelines for capital approval within Merchandising and ensuring that the portfolio tradeoffs align with companys broad financial goals.
Oversee development of and provide advice regarding annual sales and gross profit budget development with Management by preparing baseline budget and prior year actual results information; identifying business impacts (for example holidays falling in business week versus weekend or in different months in adjacent years new stores); reviewing proposed capital expenditure Capital Exchange projects and overhead/administrative budgets for Merchandise departments (Home Hardlines Entertainment and Apparel); ensuring the budget is updated for review and refinement; modeling sales and profit trends; reviewing Merchandise directors work; working with business partners to finalize budgets; and updating the budget throughout fiscal year. Ensure strong financial control environment for supported business areas by reviewing financial and business processes; assessing adequacy of controls embedded in processes; identifying areas for accounting and financial process improvement; developing accounting and financial process improvements; and directing documentation to support annual external financial audit.
Drives continuous improvement of the risk portfolio to ensure sufficient coverage for all anticipated exposures improve forecast accuracy through machine learning/AI; sales accuracy goal to 99-99.5% continue to improve capital process including post audit provide thought leadership on omni-PL ensuring merchants understand and can take appropriate actions while keeping business aligned on the overall goals

The annual salary range for this position is $225000.00 - $500000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
