The Cape Cod Collaborative is an educational organization providing a full range of instructional and support services to the students parents and public school staff of our 20 member districts whose needs are best addressed through a multi-district effort. Our student services include: alternative education programs for low incident special needs populations; programs for the multi-handicapped; therapy and services for students requiring specialized support; and a full range of transportation services for both the special needs and general education population. Job Description
Waypoint Academy is seeking an exceptional leader to fill the position of Program Director. The incoming Program Director must have a clear vision to lead our extraordinary faculty in creating and maintaining a rich engaging and meaningful therapeutic environment that allows all students to grow academically social/emotionally and behaviorally.
Waypoint Academy is a special education public day school program operated by the Cape Cod Collaborative on behalf of the member public school districts throughout the region. The Cape Cod Collaborative Public Day School Program Director fulfills the mission of the Cape Cod Collaborative by working with the Executive Director and the Director of Special Education in the management and development of Waypoint Academy. Under the guidance of the Cape Cod Collaborative Board of Directors and the supervision of the Executive Director/Director of Special Education the Program Director provides curriculum and instructional leadership supervision (development and evaluation of personnel) compliance with Federal and State regulations and adherence to financial and administrative needs to promote a positive healthy and safe environment for students and staff. Waypoint Academy provides an extension of the public schools in accordance with the Cape Cod Collaborative Articles of Agreement with our member school districts and the Cape Cod Collaborative Policies and Procedures.
Performance Responsibilities(include but are not limited to):
- Supervision and implementation of the schools academic special education and therapeutic programs.
- Monitor the implementation of the schools academic special education and therapeutic programming through the use of effective data collection and progress monitoring.
- Development supervision and evaluation of staff (including interviewing hiring orientation and fostering retention). Ensure that teachers and paraprofessionals are evaluated annually.
- Provide formal and informal feedback on observations lesson plan review and more.
- Facilitate staff meetings to analyze student work review/debrief student and staff needs and plan for instruction.
- Establish and maintain a positive culture and atmosphere of respect and achievement in the school.
- Provide/organize staff professional development and training to meet the requirements of MA Public Day Schools as well as improvement to teaching and learning and the culture of the school environment.
- Communicate in a timely and effective manner with students staff parents/guardians district liaisons and service agencies.
- On an ongoing basis communicate with the Executive Director and Director of Special Education regarding the status and effectiveness of program staff classroom supports student status and make recommendations on all matters relating to the delivery of services to children attending Waypoint Academy.
- Communicate regularly with district liaisons regarding student attendance progress and quality of service delivery.
- Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
- Demonstrate and model professionalism in conduct demeanor and work habits.
- Manage staff effectively holding staff accountable for meeting high standards for student academic therapeutic and behavioral performance
Appropriate DESE License Required:Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendent Special Education Administrator or Principal/Assistant Principal. Valid Massachusetts State Certification in Administration or as a Director by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
SEI Endorsement (or obtained within 12 months).
