This project is part of the Infotainment system from BMW. It involves owning a big part of the software stack for the in-car camera system including functionalities like person and object detection driver monitoring and anti-theft measures. Job Description
As a Principal Engineer in our Connected Services team you will play a critical role in ensuring the continued stability security and optimal performance of our camera-based features and mobile integration solutions. You will be a key contributor to maintaining the software that powers a seamless and secure connected car experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the software components responsible for in-car camera functionalities including person and object detection driver monitoring and anti-theft features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported in the field ensuring a reliable and robust camera experience for our customers.
- Analyze and optimize the stability of the 360 camera system ensuring seamless data delivery to the backend and accessibility via mobile phones.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the SmartAccessProxy ensuring secure and reliable vehicle access and control through the mobile app.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to address software defects and implement necessary updates.
- Analyze system logs and diagnostic data to identify and resolve root causes of software issues.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of software quality and reliability through code reviews and testing.
Qualifications
Basic requirements and Education
- Business fluent English
- University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study ideally with a security focus
Required Experience and Skills
- Deep architectural understanding of Linux or Android based embedded systems.
- Strong knowledge of Linux tools for software analysis debugging tracing.
- Solid competence in modern software development in the programming language C.
