JOB SUMMARY

The Assessment Testing Assistant is responsible for administering and scoring specialized tests to students (e.g. WIDA Acadience etc.) based on standardized methodologies; and assisting in other clerical functions as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Per Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) interested applicants must be Highly Qualified to be considered for the position and have completed one of the following:
    • completed at least two years at an accredited higher education institution (minimum 48 semester hours) or
    • obtained an associates (or higher) degree from an accredited higher education institution or
    • satisfied a rigorous state or local assessment (Parapro Assessment/PRAXIS ETS) with a score of 460 or higher

The higher education institutionofficial transcripts or college diploma or a copy of the Paraprofessional Assessmentmust be provided with your application or upon a contingent offer of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to establish rapport quickly with children and adults by being personable and easy to get along with

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Administer and score student tests using standardized methodologies and protocols to determine student proficiency and placement
  2. Learn the complexities of administering standardized cognitive and academic assessments
  3. Schedule student testing with site personnel to evaluate students in accordance with District requirements
  4. Travel to district sites to conduct assessments and evaluations (reliable transportation required)
  5. Work one on one or in small groups with non-English speaking children to assist in the administration of required testing
  6. Make careful and accurate observations regarding children and their performance. Express observations in clear concise writing
  7. Perform general clerical functions to provide or maintain appropriate documentation
  8. Participate in meetings workshops seminars as assigned to convey and

    gather information required to perform functions

  9. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position

  10. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required

  11. As needed roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 30 pounds

  12. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively

  13. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders

  14. Work under limited supervision utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines

  15. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds some stooping kneeling crouching and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting 33% walking and 33% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
