Job Summary

The Sustainability & Community Engagement Manager works independently and collaboratively across food service operations and university departments to plan manage and implement activities in the following areas: waste reduction and diversion sustainable packaging innovation local and MWBE purchasing carbon footprint reductions student engagement and sustainability reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate and manage relationships across operations with clients stakeholders university officials and students to develop and implement sustainability centered solutions

  • Develop and refine employee sustainability training materials to increase engagementacross operations

  • Track a variety of sustainability data points to monitor progress and identify opportunities

  • Compile data to share on monthly quarterly and annual basis with different stakeholders in various presentation formats(including but not limitedto an annual campuswide sustainability report monthly MWBE/local vendor purchasing reports AASHE STARS)

  • Lead waste audits to assess waste diversion rates

  • Participate and project manage long and short-term program development and planning for the waste & procurement sections of the campus strategic sustainability planto ensure timely completion of program deliverables

  • Plan develop and implement student engagement events to build awareness of sustainability across food service on campus

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in a field related to Sustainability or Environmental Science with a minimum of 2 years experience working in sustainability energy management or waste minimization and/or recycling

  • Sustainable Resource Management Professional or GRI/Leeds/True Zero Waste certification status may offset formal education

  • A strong understanding of sustainability practices

  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups on complex issues

  • Track record of program management
