GEO is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to support the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) project in St. Louis MO. The position requires the onsite full-time support at the St. Louis FUSRAP Laboratory. This position is first shift (7:00 am-3:30 pm CST Monday through Friday). This role is covered by the Service Contract Act.

Laboratory Analyst I

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related scientific field.
  • 0-1 years experience.
  • Daily radiochemistry for Thorium Radium and Uranium in water and soil samples with the guidance of qualified staff.
  • Proficiency with the laboratory data management system (Matrix) and internal laboratory server.
  • Completing paperwork in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Abiding by all laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Adhering to guidance from the Laboratory Manager and Chemical Hygiene officer.
  • Conducting other tasks as assigned to maintain laboratory equipment inventory and continuity of operations.

Laboratory Analyst II

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related scientific field.
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • Daily radiochemistry for Thorium Radium and Uranium in water and soil samples independently.
  • Proficiency with the laboratory data management system (Matrix) internal laboratory server.
  • Completing paperwork in LIMS as well as reviewing laboratory procedures and required chemistry specific maintenance and tracking.
  • Abiding by all laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Adhering to guidance from the Laboratory Manager and Chemical Hygiene officer.
  • Conducting other tasks as assigned to maintain laboratory equipment inventory and continuity of operations.

Laboratory Analyst III

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related scientific field.
  • 5 years experience.
  • Daily radiochemistry for Thorium Radium and Uranium in water and soil samples independently as well as provide guidance and training to junior staff.
  • Completing paperwork in LIMS as well as reviewing laboratory procedures and required chemistry specific maintenance and tracking.
  • Maintain inventories and act as the Chemical Hygiene officer deputy when necessary including but not limited to collaborating and writing chemistry specific procedures documenting non-conformances and corrective actions and problem solving for variances due to changing media conditions.
  • Abiding by all laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Adhering to guidance from the Laboratory Manager and Chemical Hygiene officer.
  • Conducting other tasks as assigned to maintain laboratory equipment inventory and continuity of operations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be initiative-taking with strong follow-through attention to detail and capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Diligence memory and concentration to follow protocols and avoid errors.
  • Judgment and decision-making skills for interpreting results and responding to unexpected outcomes.

Physical and Security Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must meet and maintain fit-for-duty drug-free workplace and security requirements.
  • Must pass a preemployment physical background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods lift moderate weights (typically up to 2550 lbs) and move safely in confined laboratory spaces.
