The Y-12 National Security Complex is currently recruiting for summer 2026 internship opportunities. The Internship Program is a 10-12 week program that offers challenging assignments projects and career development workshops to enhance your professional growth. You will also earn a competitive salary based on your discipline and academic class status. The 2026 intern program is scheduled start on May 18 2026 and conclude on July 23 2026.
The Maintenance Systems Engineering Intern will be joining the Asset Management Data Systems (AMDS) team. AMDS owns the maintenance software at Y-12 and is responsible for developing metrics related to maintenance and reliability. Work duties will include:
- Developing application requirements from maintenance planners and other end users
- Working with web developers to implement software solutions
- Performing user acceptance testing with automated testing software
- Analyzing maintenance and reliability data to identify areas for improvement
- Building dashboards in Tableau to promote increased equipment reliability and availability
- Developing proactive maintenance strategies procedures and methodologies
- Promoting the importance of work history data collection and quality within maintenance
- Evaluating opportunities to safely improve streamline and simplify work procedures and processes
- Performing debugging procedures on database scripts and programs as well as resolving conflicts
- Documenting processes related to database design configuration and performance
The internship position will remain open until all candidates have been identified.

Minimum Job Requirements
- To be considered for this Intern position you must be working toward or have completed a degree in Computer Science Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Students who have graduated are eligible up to two years post addition you must have completed (at a minimum) your sophomore year in college have an overall GPAof 2.8/4.0 or above and be a United States Citizen.
- A completed online application is required. You must include a resume and current that your graduation date and GPA are listed on your resume. Failure to attach a resume and transcript will eliminate you from the selection process.
Preferred Requirements:
- Proficiency using Microsoft Access Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word SAP or Tableau.
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing with various levels of the organization.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
