Job Summary

Job Summary and Essential Functions:  The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position.  Job duties to include but are not limited to;

 

  • Develops evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Helps to select train and develop necessary personnel.
  • Provides problem solving support and solutions for shop operations.
  • Provides process solutions through the use of six sigma techniques as well as lean manufacturing theory.
  • Maintains computer records of processes bill of materials.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization space requirements workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with product development staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Supports cost reduction and continuous improvement initiative.

 


Qualifications :

Required Skills & Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to read write and interpret general business periodocals professional journals technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to peers and management.
  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.  Knowledge of statistical process control math is required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Must have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software MS Office software to include Word Excel Access and PowerPoint.
  • Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing Kaizen techniques a plus.

 

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: 

To perform this job successfully an individual must possess the outlined experience level education training minimum years of experience product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to be considered.                                                

  • Bachelors degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university in Manufacturing Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
