The ICT Communications team ensures we have fit-for-purpose collaboration and communications technology solutions that support the realisation of our strategic objectives and enable Our Business. This role is responsible for maintaining and producing designs product roadmaps and strategies for NZ Polices voice and telephony infrastructure including critical communication platforms and integrations with radio systems.

Reporting to the TPO Communications you will provide a range of solution design and technical leadership services to support and enable our operational and business partners across the organisation.

NZ Police is embarking on a programme to modernise and strengthen our voice and collaboration environment leveraging technologies such as Zetron ACOM Radio console Mitel MiCCe MX-One Collaborations devices Cisco CUCM and Cloud Contact Center platforms. Youll play a key role in designing integrating and supporting these systems to meet operational and organisational needs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Championing Voice Network Architecture and Design practices focusing on mission-critical telephony communications and dispatch solutions.
  • Providing high-level technical leadership across Zetron ACOM Radio Console Mitel MiCCe MX-One Cisco CUCM and Cloud Contact Center platforms ensuring interoperability and resilience.
  • Delivering effective voice network architecture and design through impact assessments option analysis high-level designs and assurance activities to inform decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic voice architecture documentation including component models integration blueprints product roadmaps and standards.
  • Collaborating with Service Providers and Network Operations teams on system lifecycle management capacity planning and complex fault resolution.
  • Supporting Project Managers and business stakeholders to ensure proposed voice solutions align with NZ Polices technical strategy and operational needs.
  • Contributing to a strong team culture by sharing knowledge mentoring others and promoting best practices in communications and collaboration systems design.

You bring proven expertise in voice networks and contact centre architecture with a structured approach to planning and delivery. Youre confident communicating across all levels from business stakeholders and architects to operational teams and vendors.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience in the design and implementation of voice network and unified communications solutions (Zetron ACOM Radio Console Mitel MiCCe MX-One Cisco CUCM and Cloud Contact Center).
  • Strong understanding of VoIP SIP call routing session border controllers and resilient telephony design with practical application across dispatch systems IP-based PBX platforms unified communications and cloud contact centre architectures.
  • Experience in dispatch environments particularly those integrated with radio or emergency communications systems is a strong advantage.
  • Experience designing and deploying voice solutions across on-premise and cloud environments is a strong advantage.
  • Current or previous industry certifications in either Mitel Cisco CUCM Cloud Contact Center platforms or equivalent voice network architecture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
