Position Overview:
The General Manager Plant will be responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the chemical manufacturing facility ensuring safe efficient and cost-effective production while maintaining strict compliance with environmental health and safety regulations. This role requires strong leadership in managing multi-disciplinary teams optimising plant processes driving productivity and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet the companys strategic objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all plant operations including production quality maintenance and supply chain functions.
- Ensure achievement of production targets in terms of volume quality cost and efficiency.
- Monitor and optimise manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and minimise waste.
- Manage raw material planning inventory control and resource allocation for smooth operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE ISO and all regulatory and environmental standards.
- Implement and maintain robust quality control systems across all production stages.
- Foster a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement among plant teams.
- Lead mentor and develop plant management and technical teams to build operational excellence.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets (OPEX & CAPEX) while driving cost optimisation initiatives.
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance plant performance and long-term competitiveness.
- Coordinate with top management on business expansion new product development and operational planning.
- Represent the plant in meetings with regulatory bodies auditors vendors and industry forums.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering (mandatory).
- 12-15 years of experience in process manufacturing with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role (Plant Head / GM / Operations Director) in the Chemical / Petrochemical / Fertiliser / Speciality Chemicals industry.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale chemical operations with strong safety and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated record of achieving production targets process improvements and cost savings.
Technical & Managerial Skills:
- Strong knowledge of chemical process operations equipment and technology.
- In-depth understanding of EHS standards (OSHA NEQS ISO 14001 ISO 9001 etc.).
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting CAPEX and OPEX control.
- Strong leadership communication and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle crisis situations troubleshoot operational bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
