The School District of Clayton is seeking an experienced HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing Technician for the 2025-2026 school year. The HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing Technician installs troubleshoots and repairs complex building systems involving heating ventilation air conditioning refrigeration electrical and plumbing systems. Performs preventative maintenance cleaning repair adjustment and lubrication as well as modification of equipment.
REPORTS TO: Director of Facility Services
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Plans lays out installs and repairs building systems.
- Cleans inspects and maintains building systems.
- Maintains a safe working environment.
- Performs routine paperwork as required.
- Directs helpers as required.
- Assists contractors architects and engineers as needed.
- Installs communication lines such as computer phone alarm and bell systems.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- At least 3-5 years of experience is required.
- Must pass a physical examination and drug screening (if applicable).
- Technical School Training or equivalent and CFC Certification is required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES May be representative but not all-inclusive of those knowledge skills and abilities commonly associated with the job.
- Requires ability to read and understand route instructions in written oral or diagrammatic form and identify material by label and written or computer listings.
- Requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Requires understanding of applicable codes such as the National Electrical Code along with state and local building regulations.
- Requires strong organizational skills.
- Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Requires ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES Activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Required to occasionally move objects weighing up to 100 pounds around the workspace.
- Requires daily travel to multiple work sites within the District using provided transportation.
- Climbs ladders and moves furniture as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Education: Technical School training and a strong understanding of Building Automation Systems are required.
Certification: Universal CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon) Certification is required.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years job-related experience is required; 10 years of commercial HVAC experience is preferred. Plumbing skills are preferred.
Compensation: $28.24 - 42.43/hr
