PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This is a leadership role as a senior journalist in an innovative and exciting team. Youll oversee and assign resources be trusted to make editorial decisions and take on management and pastoral responsibilities. Part time and job-share applications are warmly encouraged.

Youll also oversee the curation of those live streams and the latest news on the iPlayer homepage. Youll be part of the streaming management team and there will be opportunities to own significant editorial projects.

**Please note this is a senior journalism role not a craft video editing position.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact

To be an operational and editorial leader delivering coverage of live and daily news
To assign resources to stories and work with colleagues and teams across the newsroom to collaborate on coverage
To be a leader and role model on team culture. To line manage colleagues and to give constructive feedback to help learning and progression
To be an ambassador for the streaming team across the BBC helping to educate and enthuse others
To be able to take on and deliver planned projects including coverage of special events and original journalism

Your Skills and Experience Key Criteria

Essential:

Experience overseeing output of live news with a proven track record of making the right decisions in high pressure environments.
Excellent editorial judgement with comprehensive knowledge of BBC editorial policy media law and regulatory requirements in the BVOD and SVOD space.
Understanding and experience of newsroom tooling systems and techniques to produce live video news particular a strong grasp of how data guides decision making and how curation can build habit and growth.
Demonstrable experience of leading engaging and motivating team members. A demonstrated commitment to a kind inclusive and feedback focussed culture.
A strong and deep understanding of audiences including you.
