Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the inspection maintenance repair and overhaul of heavy machinery and construction equipment such as excavators bulldozers loaders cranes graders and compactors. The role ensures all equipment operates safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform regular preventive maintenance and inspection of heavy equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  

• Diagnose mechanical hydraulic and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
  

• Repair or replace defective parts such as engines transmissions hydraulic systems and undercarriage components.
  

• Conduct functional testing and calibration after repairs to confirm performance standards.
  

• Maintain accurate service records repair logs and maintenance reports.
  

• Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
  

• Coordinate with the maintenance supervisor and operations team for scheduling equipment downtime.
  

• Maintain a clean and organized workshop area and adhere to health safety and environmental (HSE) policies.
  

• Identify recurring issues and recommend technical improvements or upgrades.
  

• Assist in training junior technicians and promoting a safety-first culture.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Automotive or related field.
  

• Experience: Minimum 57 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of heavy construction or earthmoving equipment (e.g. CAT Komatsu Volvo JCB Hitachi).
  

• Knowledge:
  

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
    

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
    

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnostic tools (manual and computerised).
    

• Language: Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
  

• Licenses: Valid Qatar or GCC driving license (preferable).
