About the Position
Responsible for general supervision and leadership of participants in classes trips special events and Special Olympics.

Position Functions

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads scheduled programs for people with disabilities and older adults
  • Adheres to and enforces all disability program rules and regulations
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of programs facilities
  • Participates in scheduled activities along-side participants
  • Communicates and gives direction to volunteers and participants
  • Maintains discipline and oversees events at a recreation facility
  • Sets up before and cleans up after an event
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies procedures and safety practices
  • Attends work regularly at the designated place and time
  • Supports continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Working and supervisory experience with recreation operations and working with people with developmental disabilities and older adult populations; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
Desired Qualifications
  • Valid Iowa Drivers License preferred
  • May be required to obtain a Class D Chauffeur License

Work Schedule

  • Varying hours when programs occur (5-10 hours per week)
