The Role

As a SMP Engineer on this project youll play a pivotal role in managing scope liaising with clients and driving execution across construction quality and commercial functions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and coordinating SMP construction activities in line with project schedules and specifications
• Liaising with client representatives subcontractors and internal teams to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment
• Monitoring progress and preparing detailed weekly and monthly reports for internal and client stakeholders
• Reviewing and approving technical deviation requests and maintaining the technical query register
• Ensuring compliance with safety quality and environmental standards across all works
• Supporting the development of work packs ITPs and construction methodologies
• Conducting inspections and walkdowns to verify installation quality and readiness for testing or commissioning
• Identifying and mitigating risks and non-conformances through proactive problem-solving
• Assisting with material take-offs procurement tracking and delivery coordination
• Participating in pre-starts toolbox talks and safety reviews to promote a strong safety culture
• Collaborating with planning and commercial teams to support forecasting cost control and change management

About You

To thrive in this role youll ideally bring:

• A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural Mechanical and Piping) scopes on major construction projects
• Strong technical knowledge of steel structures mechanical equipment installation piping systems and associated construction methodologies
• Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD Navisworks or similar)
