The Role
As a SMP Engineer on this project youll play a pivotal role in managing scope liaising with clients and driving execution across construction quality and commercial functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and coordinating SMP construction activities in line with project schedules and specifications
- Liaising with client representatives subcontractors and internal teams to resolve technical queries and ensure alignment
- Monitoring progress and preparing detailed weekly and monthly reports for internal and client stakeholders
- Reviewing and approving technical deviation requests and maintaining the technical query register
- Ensuring compliance with safety quality and environmental standards across all works
- Supporting the development of work packs ITPs and construction methodologies
- Conducting inspections and walkdowns to verify installation quality and readiness for testing or commissioning
- Identifying and mitigating risks and non-conformances through proactive problem-solving
- Assisting with material take-offs procurement tracking and delivery coordination
- Participating in pre-starts toolbox talks and safety reviews to promote a strong safety culture
- Collaborating with planning and commercial teams to support forecasting cost control and change management
About You
To thrive in this role youll ideally bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience delivering SMP (Structural Mechanical and Piping) scopes on major construction projects
- Strong technical knowledge of steel structures mechanical equipment installation piping systems and associated construction methodologies
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD Navisworks or similar)
