About the Facility
This boutique hunter/jumper program in the beautiful Tampa Bay Area is home to just under 25 horses and a fantastic team of laid-back individuals who care for them! With 8 client horses 6 sales horses and the remainder being retired show horses the workload stays manageable for staff year-round. The owner of this facility is an open-minded horse-centered individual who gives her staff the autonomy to design their schedules for the best interests of the horses on-site. There are no travel or showing requirements in this program and it is based year-round in Tampa FL!
Job Description
We are looking for 2 individuals to take on the basic care responsibilities at this Florida Hunter/Jumper facility! These individuals ideally will have a genuine passion for working with horses and be self-starting and reliable as the owner of this facility is not one to micromanage. There is a wonderful part-time support team here but these two individuals will ideally be living on-site and taking on the primary care roles for the horses on-site. This is a basic role consisting of stall cleaning feeding blanketing turn in and out and watering the horses. Employees are given the freedom and responsibilityto design their schedule in a way that puts the horses first. Storming in the afternoon Do turnout at night check and save yourself the trouble of overnight stalls! 80 degrees at 3:30 Take the blankets around later in the evening. 110 degrees in the afternoon Take a break and come back for evening chores later on! For individuals with true horsemanship and a pride in their work this is a common-sense low-drama position with consistency and stability for the future.
Job Duties
- Clean stalls 1x daily with afternoon picking and overnight turnout
- Clean and refill waters 1-2x daily
- Feed hay 5x daily
- Take horses to/from turnout
- Blanket and unblanket
- Night check responsibilities
- Communicate as needed with owner
- Ensure stable and facilities clean and in good repair
- Willing/able to assist with the mowing and groundskeeping around the facility
- Willing to assist in improvement projects as needed
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience caring for horses in show quality facilities
- Strong communication skills
- Self-Starting and Reliable
- Willing to put the horses first
- Capable of contributing to a drama-free environment
- Willing to work 6 days per week!
