Role Summary
Processes complex payroll transactions and human resources information in order to ensure timely and accurate payroll transaction processing. This position performs a variety of personnel functions in support of institution-wide human resources administration. The incumbent processes employee and student pay and deductions maintains accurate payroll records ensures compliance with university policies and federal and state regulations and answers general personnel questions. This person reports to an administrative supervisor.
Examples of Work Performed
- Validates employee personnel and timekeeping records to ensure accurate and timely payroll.
- Reviews time and attendance records for proper recording of overtime and time off.
- Processes court-ordered deductions.
- Assists with payroll compliance including W-4s state withholdings W-2s and 1095-Cs.
- Assists with leave administration including FMLA and workers compensation.
- Assists employees with questions about pay deductions and timekeeping.
- Provides general office support for the Human Resources Department.
- Provides similar or related duties as assigned or required.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include but are not limited to the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
1. Completes payroll transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipates deadlines.
2. Responds to complex employee payroll questions and problems.
3. Counsels new existing and terminating employees on payroll options timelines taxes and deductions.
4. Provides guidance to less experienced staff members.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: High School or Equivalent
Experience: (2) Two Years Experience
Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Include resume.
- Payroll experience preferred.
- Workday experience preferred.
- 2 year experience required.
- Strong customer service skills required.
