Exceptional Children (EC) Assistant - Anderson Academy Charter School
Location:Winston-Salem NC on-site
Schedule:10 month position1st shift Monday - Friday with some weekend/evening hours depending upon events/program needs

Hiring Range:$17-19/hour - Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Candidates who meet only the minimum requirements can expect to start at the beginning of the range while those with additional and relevant experience and/or advanced skills may be considered for higher starting pay within the range.

Education/Experience/Licensure: - High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or related postsecondary education preferred.
- Prior experience supporting students with disabilities or in a school setting preferred.
- A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

These requirements help ensure the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve.Skills and Competencies: To succeed as an Exceptional Children (EC) Assistant youll bring: - Student Support Expertise: Ability to provide physical academic and behavioral assistance under the supervision of EC staff.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to collaborate effectively with teachers parents and students.
- Organization & Documentation: Accuracy in maintaining student records and progress notes to support IEP compliance.
- Trauma-Informed & Inclusive Mindset: Awareness of the effects of trauma and commitment to equitable learning practices.
- Adaptability & Flexibility: Ability to adjust to diverse student needs classroom environments and day-to-day changes.
- Interpersonal Skills: Professionalism patience empathy and discretion in every interaction.
- Problem-Solving: Creative thinking in responding to behavioral emotional or academic challenges.
- Cultural Competence: Sensitivity to students and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Team Collaboration: Willingness to work closely with EC Manager teachers and multidisciplinary staff.
- Dependability: Consistent reliability in attendance follow-through and confidentiality.
- Valid Drivers License required.
Job Duties: Student Support & Instruction - Reinforce individualized and small-group instructional content for EC students.
- Support daily living skills mobility and behavioral interventions as directed.
- Prepare adaptive materials and assistive devices for classroom use.
- Track and report student progress to EC staff.
Collaboration & Compliance - Assist in implementing and documenting IEP goals accommodations and interventions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling student records.
- Participate in team meetings professional development and compliance processes.
School Culture & Inclusion - Contribute to a positive trauma-informed learning culture that promotes belonging and growth.
- Support smooth classroom transitions and school events.
- Participate in extracurricular and community-building activities.
- Adhere to Anderson Academy and NC Charter School policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support EC services.
