Purpose



Provides input into the strategic direction leadership and oversight for all finance matters for Real EstateSecured Lending (RESL) and the Retail Deposits & Investments (RD&I) ensuring business strategies plansand initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations internal policies and procedures.

Responsible for defining managing directing delivering planning and forecasting the overall financialprocesses controls and reporting of data for the Canadian Bankings RESL and RD&I businesses.

As a key partner to the Canadian Banking RESL and RD&I management teams the Director & Head isinvolved in setting the strategic direction and objectives and plays a critical role in the development andimplementation of creative short-term and long-term strategies to promote growth and profitability. TheDirector & Head is responsible for managing the priorities for the Finance department as well as workingclosely with EVP SVP and VP level individuals within the business line and other departments of the Bank on
high profile projects.

Accountabilities

Leadership and collaborate across the Bank


Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships andleverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships within Canadian Banking Finance RESL and RD&Ibusiness units as well as divisional support functions
Sustain strategic relationships and develop alliances with key contacts business partners (EO groupsand CFOs) and stakeholders (BLs Executive Management) to deliver on mandate and provide valueadded analysis and insight. Build and reinforce effective working relationships and collaboration withinand across the Finance Community and the CB Retail Bank.
As a strategic Partner to the Business Line provide analysis support and counsel to business linemanagement related to financial management of the area. Leverage strong understanding of productportfolio and business model to provide value-add advice and recommendations. Conduct financialreviews / investigations of strategic business initiatives including new acquisitions / products / marketswith a view to profitability and accounting issues.
Directs financial reviews or initiatives to support strategic priorities and/or improve managementprocesses and standardize methodologies. Implement and maintain constantly evolving performancemeasurement practices and reporting.

Strategic Financial Oversight


Participate in monitoring the financial and general health of the business including oversight andgovernance.
Oversee the planning forecasting and reporting for RESL & RD&I growth and financial metrics acrosschannels
Oversee the financial analysis to support strategic investments
Evaluate the ROI of Retail Deposits & Investments initiatives and partner collaborations.
Create coordinate analyze and verify regular business line analytics and reporting to support strategic objectives and campaigns
Develop pricing models cost-benefit analyses and financial frameworks for new and existingprograms.


Partnership Management


Identify negotiate and manage strategic partnerships that enhance Retail Deposits & Investmentsofferings (e.g. fee schedules retail alliances)
Ensure financial alignment and mutual value creation in partner agreementsPortfolio Optimization
Analyze customer and product performance to improve engagement retention and profitability
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align financial goals with customer experience.
Cross-Functional Leadership: work closely with finance marketing legal tech and data teams toensure seamless execution of the RESL and RD&I strategy.
Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Leadership


Provide strong leadership to motivate both individual and team performance to achieve highprofessional standards.
Recruit develop retain and advance high quality talent and implement an effective succession plan forthe RESL and RD&I Finance areas.
Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships andleverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
The individual is also an active member of the RESL and RD&I Senior Management team.
Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Banks risk culture and the relevant riskappetite statement and limits. Communicates the Banks risk culture and risk appetite statementthroughout their teams.
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/herrespective areas while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day businesscontrols to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk AML/ATF riskand conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk ManagementFramework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework AML/ATF Global Handbook andthe Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts retains developsand motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/businessstrategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education / Experience / Other Information



MBA and/or Accounting Designation preferred
Minimum of 10 years directly related experience in a financial area
Thorough knowledge of Canadian Bankings products/services business lines financial reportscompliance performance measurement planning and analysis service standards legal and regulatoryrequirements.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of management/accounting methods and practices including fundstransfer pricing product profitability ROEE measurement techniques. MIS must be developed and appliedconsistently to all business lines within Canadian Banking. The incumbent must be able to assess complexbusiness cases including large acquisition/divestiture proposals.
Strong strategic and analytical skills required to develop the vision goals strategies and plans for theFinance Department aligning with the overall Bank strategy.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of finance and the ability to continuously and critically analyze thecurrent state for new concepts insights and opportunities for improvement.
Strong initiative forward thinking and creative problem solving skills with the ability to create or stimulateintegrated cross-disciplinary strategic solutions.
Skilled in gaining the organizational commitment and alignment of various stakeholders in CanadianBanking through the use of strong interpersonal skills and win-win outcomes.
Effective negotiation and influencing skills that can be applied across all functional levels and areas withinthe organization
Demonstrated leadership skills and relationship management expertise
