Position Summary:
The CTE Computer Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging hands-on instruction that introduces students to foundational and advanced concepts in computer science coding and technology. The teacher will guide students through project-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking creativity and real-world application. This position requires a passion for technology education and a desire to inspire students in both middle and high school to pursue careers in computer science and related fields.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Must meet one of the following:

• Valid Texas State Teachers Certification; or

• Bachelors degree with a passing score on an ExCET/TExES Exam in grade level or content area to be taught; or

• Bachelors degree with an academic minor or major (minimum of 18 credit hours) in the core academic subject areas to be taught; or

• Bachelors degree and documented successful relevant work experience in the content area to be taught supported by at least one year of professional employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer or supervisor.

Experience:

• Prior experience teaching middle or high school students preferred

• Experience in CTE or computer science-related instruction strongly preferred

• Passion for students and for teaching computer science

• Strong knowledge of instructional content and pedagogy

• Ability to model and teach virtue through the curriculum

• Effective classroom management for 2025 students

• Patience and adaptability in working with students of varied abilities

• Strong organizational time management communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students parents and staff

• Ability to interpret and apply policies procedures and student data (test results assessments grades)

• Computer literacy and ability to integrate technology effectively in instruction

• Willingness to participate in school events training and community engagement activities

Responsibilities and Duties

• Prepare and deliver effective engaging lessons that motivate students to achieve academic success

• Assign assess and provide feedback on classwork and homework in a timely manner

• Administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate and support student learning

• Provide targeted interventions for students who need additional support

• Maintain grades classroom calendars and parent communication using the schools learning management system

• Maintain classroom discipline and a safe orderly learning environment

• Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress

• Participate in faculty meetings training workshops and professional development

• Collaborate with Special Education and 504 staff to ensure implementation of accommodations

• Sponsor student activities or clubs as needed

• Support campus events and recruitment activities

• Comply with all ResponsiveEd policies handbooks and procedures

• Perform additional duties as assigned
