JOB TITLE:

Group Fitness Instructor

JOB PURPOSE:

The Campus Recreation Fitness Program strives to encourage a healthy balanced lifestyle to all participants through inspiration teamwork and positivity. Our instructors and trainers are a team dedicated to getting people moving together. As a fitness team member you will be exposed to educational topics around exercise science and programming team building and leadership. Your entry into teaching fitness or training clients follows a clearly structured shadowing process (usually lasting one semester) to ensure you have the knowledge skills and abilities to deliver impactful movement-based experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Obtain and maintain necessary fitness certifications within the first 6 months of employment.

Create a welcoming and inclusive group exercise environment and ensure that every participant has a positive movement-based experience.

Design and implement safe effective and enjoyable group fitness classes.

Have a solid understanding of exercise science class program design anatomy and wellness principles.

Must be familiar with current UW Campus Recreation Fitness class offerings.

Provide personalized attention and customer service to class participants and Campus Recreation patrons.

Display a positive attitude and strong communication skills.

Utilize scheduling and fitness software.

Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings.

Obtain or show proof of CPR/1^st Aid.

Assist with special programs/workshops/fairs.

Assist with cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

MUST BE A STUDENT to apply.

MUST graduate NO EARLIER than December 2026.
